Shaukat Ali

In the context of The Ali brothers mobilized Indian Muslim opinion in defence of the Ottoman Caliphate after World War I, while also building a wider anti-colonial alliance with Congress leaders. Shaukat Ali’s activism included public campaigning, political organization, and imprisonment by the colonial government., Shaukat Ali is recognized as Khilafat leader and anti-colonial organizer. Alongside his brother Mohammad Ali Jauhar and other leaders, he helped initiate and organize the Khilafat movement and connect it to Gandhi’s Non-Cooperation campaign.
